A modern oud accord rebuilds the recognisable smoky, leathery, slightly fecal character from accessible materials. Almost every commercial 'oud' perfume today is built around a synthetic accord like this, with a small drop of real oud added on top for prestige.

- ·Cypriol (Nagarmotha) is the single most oud-realistic natural material widely available. Pair it with aged patchouli for instant credibility.
- ·A drop of real oud (1 to 3% on top) transforms the accord. Even cheap Hindi oud at micro dose adds authenticity.

Is synthetic oud as good as real oud?
Different. Synthetic oud accords are consistent, vegan-friendly, IFRA-safe and a fraction of the cost. Real oud has a complexity and animalic richness no synthetic fully captures but blended into a synthetic base, even tiny amounts elevate the whole accord.
Why does my oud accord smell like a barn?
That is the castoreum and birch tar working overdose them and the accord turns medicinal. Reduce both to 1 to 2% if it is too animalic.
