Short profile

A strongly defined chamomile character combines herbal sweetness with balsamic warmth and dry hay. Tea-like dryness gives the profile a less sweet counterweight, while woody and floral nuances provide depth. Apple, tobacco and a subtler tropical-fruit aspect add complexity, with an almost medicinal herbal undertone. The supplier places its lasting character toward the base rather than treating it as a fresh herbal opening; no timed blotter evolution or projection measurements are supplied.

Effect in a formula

Adds warm herbal depth and a hay-toned, countryside character rather than primarily supplying top-note lift. It supports rustic woody compositions with lavender, cypress and musks, and lends roundness to warm spicy-floral structures containing citrus and white flowers. The supplier also recommends it for hay, tobacco, tea and herbal accords, and for warming the deeper register of fougères.

Use and dosage

The supplier gives 0.05–0.5% of the fragrance concentrate as its usual dosage range. Its pronounced odour and strong colour contribution favour restrained use, particularly in pale products. A separate supplier recommendation of 0.01–0.5% refers to the finished fragrance, not the concentrate. These figures are formulation guidance, not IFRA limits.

No confirmed manufacturer use level for this exact product.

Behaviour and performance

Tenacity
The descriptive text reports long persistence and a base-oriented role, although the page's scent-note indicator rates persistence as medium, on an hours scale. No measured blotter duration, evaluation dilution or test conditions are provided.

Diffusion, tenacity and note impact are not combined into a single performance score.

Dissolving and diluting

Solvents
Reported to form clear solutions in ethanol, DPG and IPM. Clarity does not mean colourlessness: the oil imparts a strong blue tint to its solutions.
Working dilution
Use a 1% stock for formulation work and a 0.1% dilution for olfactory evaluation. Ethanol is the supplier's primary listed solvent; DPG and IPM are also listed as suitable solvents.
Appearance
A viscous liquid with an intense blue colour attributable to chamazulene. Exposure to air and light can shift the colour first toward green and subsequently toward brown.
Practical tip: Reserve a separate pipette for this intensely colouring oil, and check the colour impact even at trace dosage in pale formulations. Keep containers nearly full, away from light and at a cool temperature to limit air exposure. A shift toward green signals oxidation; browning is associated with decomposition and deterioration of the odour.
