Short profile

A powerful, diffusive opening evokes cut grass and green foliage, with a herbaceous edge. A softer fruity component brings banana and pear impressions, alongside a slight apple nuance. Compared with cis-3-Hexenol, the overall character is sweeter, more rounded and less piercing. Its development is brief: the supplier reports barely an hour of persistence on a smelling strip, without describing a separate heart or dry-down profile.

Effect in a formula

Provides a pronounced green top-note accent that gives the opening a more naturalistic character. It refreshes fruit accords and enlivens floral compositions through its grassy-fruity contrast. Particularly useful in green, tea, floral and fresh-fruit themes, it can also contribute a moist, leafy impression to floral hearts.

Use and dosage

The supplier gives 0.1–2% of the fragrance formulation as its usual range, particularly for green openings and fruit, tea or floral accords. Higher additions can overwhelm the balance and push the fragrance towards an overtly grassy character. A separate recommendation of 0.05–1% refers to the finished fragrance, not the concentrate. These are formulation guidelines, not IFRA limits.

Behaviour and performance

Tenacity
Reported smelling-strip persistence is barely one hour. The page also characterises longevity as an estimate based on volatility; no test dilution or controlled evaluation conditions are specified.

Diffusion, tenacity and note impact are not combined into a single performance score.

Dissolving and diluting

Solvents
Ethanol and DPG are reported to dissolve the material readily. IPM is also listed as a suitable solvent, although no specific dissolution behaviour is given for it.
Working dilution
Use a 10% ethanol solution as the working stock for compounding, and 1% in ethanol for olfactory evaluation. The weaker evaluation strength makes the character easier to assess without the piercing initial impact.
Appearance
Colourless liquid with a very fluid, low-viscosity consistency.
Practical tip: Begin smelling trials at 1% to judge this highly diffusive, short-lived material more clearly. Keep it in cool storage and recap the bottle promptly after dispensing. Check higher additions carefully, since the grassy effect can become disproportionately dominant.
