Effect in a formula
Provides a substantial base with resinous and fruity depth, particularly in amber and chypre compositions. Its honeyed character softens leather accords, while its fruit-resin interplay helps unite tobacco and incense structures. Small additions can give a composition a more grounded base.
Use and dosage
The supplier gives 0.5–5% as a usual use range without explicitly identifying the calculation basis; it should therefore not be treated as a confirmed concentrate range. Separately, it recommends 0.1–2% in the finished fragrance, particularly for amber, chypre and leather work. Very small additions are also described as useful for base support. These are formulation recommendations, not IFRA limits.
No confirmed manufacturer use level for this exact product.
Behaviour and performance
- Tenacity
- Reported as highly substantive, with persistence extending from many hours into days. The supplier recommends assessing trials across several days; no measured blotter duration or test conditions are supplied.
Diffusion, tenacity and note impact are not combined into a single performance score.
Good areas of use
Dissolving and diluting
- Solvents
- Ethanol, DPG and benzyl benzoate are listed as suitable solvents. Gentle warming in a lukewarm water bath assists dissolution of the viscous absolute. Plant waxes may precipitate, so a solution can develop sediment and may require filtration.
- Working dilution
- Prepare a 10% stock for routine handling and compounding, with ethanol offered by the supplier's dilution calculator. Use 1% for odour evaluation; the evaluation recommendation does not specify a separate solvent.
- Appearance
- A very viscous mass ranging from deep green to brown, with a pronounced colouring effect. Sediment may develop.
