Short profile

Balsamic, woody, spicy, earthy, warm, dry pepper, cedar-like, faintly smoky and aged paper odor profile.

Effect in a formula

Provides a softly textured woody base with balsamic warmth and a spicy undertone, while contributing fixation. It supports the persistence of wood, amber and patchouli themes without necessarily standing out as an individual note. Useful in woody, amber and oriental compositions, it can also extend the contribution of more costly oils such as sandalwood.

Use and dosage

The supplier gives 1–10% as a usual formulation range, allowing higher amounts for wood-led or amber compositions. Elsewhere the same range is assigned to the finished fragrance, so the page does not establish an unambiguous concentrate-only basis. This is formulation guidance, not an IFRA limit.

No confirmed manufacturer use level for this exact product.

Behaviour and performance

Tenacity
The page reports 400 hours of blotter substantivity, attributed to TGSC data. Evaluation concentration and other test conditions are not supplied; the supplier's own qualitative description confirms persistence over several hours.

Diffusion, tenacity and note impact are not combined into a single performance score.

Dissolving and diluting

Solvents
Ethanol dissolves the oil, although high loadings in 96% ethanol can produce haze. DPG solutions may remain cloudy. The supplier reports no comparable difficulty with IPM.
Working dilution
Work neat or prepare a 10% dilution. Ethanol is the page's linked dilution-calculator solvent; IPM and DPG are also listed, with a cloudiness warning for DPG.
Appearance
A viscous oil ranging in colour from yellow to brownish.
Practical tip: Include a blotter assessment several hours after application rather than judging this understated material only at first smelling. Check clarity when using substantial quantities in 96% ethanol, since haze may develop.
