Short profile
An animalic musk base whose initial impact combines rugged leather with a sharp phenolic accent suggestive of damp hide. As the opening subsides, honey-like sweetness and bodily warmth become more apparent within the musk heart. The later stages have a creamy, powder-textured softness and a deer-musk-tincture association. On paper, this softer residual character is notably persistent. Dilution substantially changes its expression: the forceful neat impression becomes more intimate at concentrations below 1%.
Effect in a formula
Provides an animalic fixing base for leather, chypre and amber compositions, lending a bodily warmth rather than a conventional clean-musk effect. It moderates indolic harshness in jasmine and tuberose and makes angular woody structures feel softer. In combination with Ambrettolide or related macrocyclic musks, it contributes to a fuller, more radiant musk accord.
Use and dosage
Scentfriends gives 1–10% of the fragrance concentrate as a customary formulation range, with higher proportions suggested for leather and amber-oriental compositions. This is creative use guidance, not an IFRA limit.
No confirmed manufacturer use level for this exact product.

- Fraterworks reports persistence exceeding 260 hours on a blotter; the test dilution and other evaluation conditions are not specified.
Diffusion, tenacity and note impact are not combined into a single performance score.
Good areas of use
Dissolving and diluting
- Solvents
- The Scentfriends description identifies dipropylene glycol as the carrier for the Galaxolide-based composition. It reports clear solutions with ethanol, dipropylene glycol and isopropyl myristate.
- Working dilution
- Scentfriends lists evaluation or compounding neat or at 10%, with ethanol identified by its linked dilution calculator. Its solvent options also include DPG and IPM.
- Appearance
- A liquid without visible colour; Scentfriends additionally describes a viscous consistency and a solution that does not crystallise.
