Short profile
This material presents a deeply earthy, diffusive profile that evokes damp stone, rich humus, and soaked woodland ground. A patchouli-like opening leads into rooty undertones reminiscent of mushrooms and beetroot, finished with an ambery baseline. In its undiluted state, it can lean excessively musty and cellar-like, but in balance it captures the distinct impression of petrichor. The scent displays long-lasting tenacity, lingering on blotters for days as an intensely grounding element.
Effect in a formula
Terrasol brings authentic rain-on-rock and wet woodland soil effects to fragrance compositions, giving inner reinforcement to patchouli and vetiver notes. It provides high diffusivity and functions as a stabilizing earthy bridge in dense oriental and heavy oud profiles, remaining persistent even across demanding formula bases.
Use and dosage
Typically employed between 0.01% and 0.5% in the final fragrance compound, frequently between 0.05% and 0.5%. Because neat material easily overpowers a composition, compounding via a 1% pre-dilution is recommended, with mere traces sufficient to shift woods toward deep earthiness.
