Short profile

This material presents a warm, spicy fragrance profile strongly evocative of ginger without displaying excessive pungency. In the opening and mid-development, it reveals clear similarities to vanillin and eugenol, delivering a nuanced cooked or roasted root character combined with gentle piquancy. As it evolves toward the dry-down, it develops a rounded, sweet balsamic texture supported by comforting creamy depth. Evaluated in concentrated form it can register as somewhat medicinal, but on a smelling strip at moderate dilution it unfolds into a mellow, persistent culinary spice note.

Behaviour and performance

Tenacity
Reported substantivity of approximately 337 hours on a testing blotter, demonstrating good base-note persistence.

Diffusion, tenacity and note impact are not combined into a single performance score.

Dissolving and diluting

Practical tip: Because of its low melting point of roughly 40 °C, it dissolves easily into ethanol with the aid of a lukewarm water bath. Note that liquid ethanolic dilutions may gradually acquire a slight yellowish tint over several months, and smelling at full concentration is not recommended as it reads overly medicinal compared to its diluted state.
